Concert Night
Each year, on the last Tuesday night of the school year, we hold our Concert and Awards Night. At the end of the evening, we have a shared dessert and ask that everyone bring along a plate of food to share.
Awards
Prep Award - Each prep receives a book to celebrate finishing their first year of schooling.
Academic Achiever Awards - Children who have achieved an 'A' Level of Achievement in a subject on their report card in Semester 2 receive a certificate to recognise this achievement.
Sports Person of the Year - Awarded to the Year 6 child with the highest sporting ability.
Best Overall Year 6 Award Criteria:
- Demonstrates high academic abilities,
- Has been active in sporting areas
- Has demonstrated leadership qualities
- Has completed their entire year 6 at Townsville South SS
Global Award Medallions
The following is taken into account by staff when determining these awards:
- Approximately 5-7 recipients per class except for Preps who are not eligible for this award.
- Behaviour - The number of Gold Awards
- Attendance –
High levels of attendance should be evident.
- Effort in all subjects. - Citizenship
(Year 4-6 children only)
- Number of citizenship points earned
- Participates in extra-curricular activities
either in the class or playground.
There is flexibility within these guidelines and the teacher
is to make the final decision in the spirit of the award which is to identify
those students who demonstrate the broader characteristics of a lifelong
learner those global traits that encompass attitude to academic learning, socially
appropriate behaviour and commitment to learning.
