Chaplaincy
The school has a Chaplain for 1 day per week who provides great support for our school students and has been approved by the P&C. Full details about Chaplaincy Services can be found on the Education Queensland website. For children to receive ongoing one to one chaplaincy services, the school will provide a Chaplaincy Consent Form in these particular cases of greater support.
Department Insurance Arrangements and Accident Cover for Students
Information on this can be found at the following link on the Education Queensland Website - Accident Cover .
Dogs
For a number of safety reasons, dogs are not allowed on the school premises. Special permission can be granted by the principal if for educational purposes.
Excursions, Camps and Performances
Overnight camps are undertaken
for students in Years 4-6. The focus for these camps is usually around teamwork, leadership or environmental themes. More detailed information regarding
costs is made available leading up to the event.
Individual class teachers arrange local day
visits/field trip opportunities to assist with classroom learning throughout
the year. Specific details regarding these excursions will be communicated by
class teachers closer to the event.
For all excursions, camps and performances there is a fee which is detailed closer to the event to cover the cost of bus, entry and any other costs.
Lost Property
There is a lost property
area situated under the school. All
items of lost property are displayed there.
At the end of each term, any unclaimed lost property is given to
charity. To minimise loss, parents are
asked to name all items that come to school.
Lunches
Students are encouraged to bring a sandwich or healthy
alternative which they will enjoy each day for their main lunch, along with
other foods which provide a balanced and healthy diet. Students are not to swap
their food with other students. Where they don’t like particular foods they
have been given, they are encouraged to discuss this at home so it can be
resolved in a constructive way.
Parking
Parking is
available outside the school and the Prep facility. Parents need to be aware
that a ‘No Standing‘ zone is located in the area at the front of the school.
School Access
For security reasons, the grounds are not to be accessed on the weekends or after children have gone home. The tennis/basketball court can be accessed by families according to the terms and conditions on the Tennis/Basketball Court Webpage. If you see anyone entering the school grounds without permission please contact Schoolwatch on 13 17 88.
School Assembly
A whole school assembly takes place each week on Wednesday
at 2.40pm. Presentation of student awards, notices, guest speakers and the
national anthem are regular features of each parade. Students in Year 6 are
rostered to assist with these parades as part of their leadership roles.
Parents are encouraged to
attend the school parades whenever possible.
School Charges and Voluntary Contributions
The school does not run a voluntary contribution scheme.
School charges include: costs for excursions and camps; school booklist of resources eg colouring-in pencils, rulers, textbooks; levy (approximately $50 per child per year) for lead pencils and online subscriptions of learning programs.
Telephone Calls
Telephone calls to teachers cannot be accepted during lesson times, but messages will be relayed at breaks.
Toys
Toys are not to be brought to
school, unless requested by teachers for educational purposes. Where toys are brought for reasons other
than this, there is a potential risk of damage or loss. With this, comes upsets and
disappointment. We, therefore,
discourage toys where possible and accept no responsibility for lost property
where this advice is ignored.
