Take-Home Reading
Reading is an essential part to any child's learning is part of
homework for all children across the school. The Take-Home Reading
Record Sheet (below) gives information on what children read and for how
long depending on their level. We have a huge diversity of take-home
readers as we value children being engaged and interested in their
reading.
Contextual Activities
On occasion, the teacher may assign homework tasks that link to a
topic, unit or work in the classroom. eg. draw the phases of the moon
for that week.
Choice Activity
Each week, all classes provide several activities of which 1 is to
be chosen by the student. The idea is for children and parents to
select the activity that is most relevant to their needs and interest
that further supports their learning.
Mathletics/Mathseeds, Reading Eggs/EggsrpessMathletics
and Reading Eggs are also great support online software and is usually
part of the Choice Activity. If you need the login and password for
your child please feel free to contact your teacher.
The choice activity should be around 20 minutes for the week.
Optional Activity
Each week, all classes provide optional activities that children
may wish to participate in. This activity is not compulsory and should
only be completed if of interest to the child.
There are some resources you may wish to use to support your child
at home with their homework in the Support Documents Links. There are

Mandatory Homework Activity
All classes have the option of up to 1 routine Mandatory Homework
Activity in addition to the activities list above.. This may vary from
class to class (eg. Sight Words, Spelling, Basic Facts etc.) and for
some classes/year levels there may be no additional mandatory homework
activity as the activities above may be sufficient.
