At Townsville South State School we value students contributing to their school to build their understanding of the importance of contributing to society and being a good citizen.

Children in Year 4 - 6 earn citizenship points for out of class (ie before school and lunchtimes) help with activities like changing take-home reading, helping at prep, yard duty, milkshakes, sportsroom duty etc.

Citizenship points are used towards end of year citizenship medallions and the overall citizen of the year award.  All students holding school leader positions should earn at least 20 points per term to hold their position.  Citizenship points are also announced on school leader election day to give information to voters.

When students earn 75 citizenship points they earn a badge to recognize their contribution.
